Cushla O'Shea

Cushla is an experienced professional investigator. During a 30-year career in New Zealand Police she obtained the rank of Detective Senior Sergeant, and had the responsibility of managing serious crime investigations and co-ordinating response to critical incidents.

Her breadth of experience as an Adult Education Trainer and Assessor also includes design, review and delivery of training to recruits and senior staff courses, investigative interviewing and detective development training.

Having worked within a sensitive environment pertaining to Professional Conduct, investigating Insider Risk and Integrity matters, Cushla has excellent knowledge of the requirements of the Privacy Act and employment law obligations, as well as having Prosecutor experience in District Court criminal matters.

Previously she led investigations into current and historical sexual abuse matters, working in partnership with counselling and health professionals to ensure therapeutic needs of the victims were met.

She can conduct appreciations and thorough risk assessments, whilst incorporating empathy and humanity into her decision making.

Cushla has high-level investigative skills, has worked internationally and has investigated company fraud, violence, drug and dishonesty matters. She has skill, knowledge and experience with a mindset to deliver an excellent standard of investigation.
